Medical readiness classification (MRC) is an administrative determination by healthcare providers using a standardized system across the total force. This system enables the commander to measure, achieve, and sustain their Soldiers’ health and ability to perform their wartime requirement in accordance with their military occupational specialty (MOS)/area of concentration (AOC) from induction to separation.

Though primarily a military idea, Medical Readiness is appropriate for civilian use by healthcare administrators.  The purpose of Medical Readiness is to supply the Administrator with information that details whether/not the staff are able to perform in their chosen field.  For example, knowing you have a total of 10 x-ray techs, of which 5 are out sick, and 2 more are not up-to-date on their training, paints a very full picture of the radiology department (and its operational readiness) for the administrator.
